Environmental Consulting Services

Environmental consulting services provided by Arias & Associates, Inc. include environmental site, geologic recharge and karst assessments.

  • Phase I environmental site assessments (ESAs) - EPA’s “All Appropriate Inquiry” Rule (40 CFR 312) using the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) E 1527-05, Standard Practice for Environmental Site Assessments; Phase I Environmental Site Assessment Process guidance documents.  The purpose of the Phase I ESA is to identify actual or potential “recognized environmental conditions” that may result in liability or land use restrictions. 

 

  • Geologic recharge assessments - required by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) water pollution abatement plans (WPAP), United States Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), Bexar County, San Antonio Water System (SAWS) and the Edwards Aquifer Authority (EAA).

 

  • Karst assessments - in accordance with the protocols set forth by the United States Fish and Wildlife Service Section 10(a)(1)(A) Scientific Permit Requirements for Conducting Presence/Absence Surveys for Endangered Karst Invertebrates in Central Texas and in accordance with TCEQ’s Instructions to Geologists.  The survey objective is to visually identify surface karst features that may indicate the presence of suitable habitat for federally listed, endangered cave invertebrates.

Calveras Dam Rehabilitation, Bexar County, Texas

The rehabilitation of Calaveras Dam No. 8 includes modifications to the 50-year old earthen dam to meet the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) standard for existing dams of high hazard classification. Arias provided geotechnical engineering and environmental consulting services for raising the dam crest, for regrading the emergency spillways, for surface diversion berms, and for an inlet structure.
