Project Description
Arias provided Construction Materials Testing services for the construction of the J.W. Marriott Hill Country Resort that consisted of a seven (7)-story 1,002 room resort hotel, an adjacent three (3)-story 325,000 square foot conference center, a 26,000 square foot spa, various restaurants and recreational facilities in San Antonio, Texas.
The resort also has two (2) 18-hole Tournament Players Club (TPC) golf courses, a 43,000 square foot clubhouse, and a five (5)-acre water park. The resort hotel and conference center were both constructed on deep foundations consisting of drilled piers. The clubhouse and other ancillary structures were founded on conventionally reinforced stiffened beam and slab-on-grade type foundations. The seven (7)-story hotel was a cast-in-place concrete structure; while the conference center, clubhouse, and other ancillary structures were steel framed. Approximately three (3) miles of new roadways and associated utilities were also constructed to serve the project.
Arias performed monitoring and testing for drilled piers, structural concrete, post-tensioned concrete, concrete maturity, floor flatness, waterproofing, masonry, fireproofing and structural steel.
